The leadership of the Somali Union Cooperative Movement (UDHIS) held a meeting with the Independent Electoral Commission, focusing on strengthening cooperation and collaboration in support of the implementation of a “One Person, One Vote” electoral system in Somalia. The meeting discussed the importance of enhancing public awareness, civic participation, and community understanding of the electoral process, with Somali cooperatives playing an active role in reaching communities and encouraging citizens to participate in the electoral process. Both sides also emphasized the importance of continued institutional cooperation, information sharing, and coordination to support an electoral process that is transparent, inclusive, peaceful, and based on the principle of “One Person, One Vote.” The meeting represents an important step toward strengthening democracy, civic participation, and good governance in Somalia.
